How my thoughts have changed

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

From thinking I needed to go back home to now never wanting to leave

This is my Sri Lankan Homestay family. My housemates and our Amma who cared so dearly for each of us.

Dear Sri Lanka, My time here has meant more than you will ever know.

Oh Sri Lanka, How has our time flown by so quickly..

My heart breaks knowing that I will be flying back to America in just 1 day. I have had the experience of a life time here. I am so thankful for everyone who made this adventure possible. Two months…

In the beginning it seemed like a life time, & now like I’ll never have enough time here. I am leaving with a sense of accomplishment yet an erge to stay to do more. Not to stay and travel or sight see, but to help.. to do more of the job I came to do. I want to do more with all the service users, I want more time, more crafts, more time to talk. Mental Health is no joke & shouldn’t be taken lightly, being able to work in a Country where there is so much stigma towards even the IDEA of Mental Health has changed me. I am coming back to America a new person with new knowledge. I am coming back to America not only determined to become a Psychologist; But determined to come back to Sri Lanka & help form a difference with Mental, Physical & Learning disabilities.
