POST FROM AUGUST 2018
I’m excited to annouce that I have accepted an opportunity of a life time. I have decided to take this Fall semester off of school, & to take on an internship in Sri Lanka (ACROSS THE WORLD) in a Mental Health Advanced Placement. Though this means time off school I will be gaining 40+ hours of hands-on experience with diverse groups of children who struggle with mental health. During this placement I will live with a local homestay in a rural area with my other teammates. My team members & I will be in charge of planning our weekly sessions with the local children. Each class will be filled with projects, games, songs, and most importantly talking to each child to help embrace positives for those struggling with their Mental Health. After three hard weeks of living like a local, gaining hands on Mental Health training and working each day with my own projects & workshops each team member will be given the opportunity to shadow a local Mental Health Practitioner and will experience first-hand, mental health treatment in another country and culture. For those of you that do not know I am a Pediatric Psychologist major and will be working to recieve my Child Life Certification after graduation. I am beyond excited for this opportunity and can not wait to experience all the adventures and knowledge to come.
